Everyone loves KFC - that's Korean Fried Chicken, right? OBAR does it best in Auckland.
Located in Chancery Square, OBAR one of the hottest spots to dine at in town and is one of my FAVE places for dinner in Auckland. If you know me, you would know that I don't eat Korean much because I can't handle my spice but this is one Korean restaurant that I will and do actually crave! Whether for their amazing fried chicken (which is seriously on a whole 'nother level) or delicious hotpots, it's a great place for dinner with the squad or for pre's with their huge portions. It's only open at night but all night long. Unfortunately, it seems as though their chicken portions are not as big as they used to be but the quality is still excellent. You can always count on OBAR for a good time and a hella filling and satisfying feed.
Most of the items on the menu are around $30 but will feed 2-3 people so it's definitely worth it. Go with a group of friends so you can try a range of things. My favourite is their corn butter chicken - so freaking good, it's a must-get for me every time! There are also many other types of fried chicken on offer if that doesn't appeal to you. Some also come with waffle fries!
Chicken and beer is common in Korea and many who go to OBAR pair the food with soju or other drinks. Regardless of whether you go to drink though, it's a fantastic atmosphere. Be warned, it gets super busy there especially on Friday and Saturday nights!
