The latest craze to hit Auckland – yogurt drinks!
So suddenly three new Asian beverage stores have opened up in city (I swear they're taking over CBD) and you can bet I headed to where the deals are at first! Yoghurt-based drinks seem to be quite popular overseas so I was pretty keen to find out what all the hype was about (even though I don't actually like yoghurt that much).
We tried out the original Purple Rice Yoghurt ($7.80) and two Fresh Fruit drinks: Straws and Berries ($12.80), and Berry Meets Pineapple ($12.80). The fruit drinks tasted just like smoothies to be honest, with lots of berry and pineapple pieces. However with the Berry Meets Pineapple drink, (a nice combination though,) the pineapple pieces were a bit too big to slurp up, meaning the drink was finished first and the remaining pineapple had to be scooped out.

So from these drinks we tried, I would recommend choosing one of the Rich Yoghurt drinks such as the Purple Rice to get a much stronger sour and unique taste. It was really interesting with purple rice in a drink - quite chewy! Their cup seal is also very good quality and tougher than the usual - which means less chance of spills when you're stabbing your straw through!
A healthier alternative to milk tea that will make you feel less guilty but gotta say, they ain't cheap at all - the durian flavour was $16.80!! Worth trying but I can never bring myself to spend over $10 for a drink when I can get a solid meal instead. But as they are quite filling, perhaps it would substitute as a meal for the loyal?
