If you're in Ponsonby looking for a place to chill out over some pastries and coffee, Daily Bread's pop-up cafe is the place to go!
Sometimes simplicity is all you need... Loved the vibe of the The Greenhouse as soon as I walked in! Simple yet elegant, with a beautiful and very spacious fit out creating a friendly and chill atmosphere, it's a great place to just sit back and relax amidst the hustling Ponsonby central. The building will eventually make way for a high-rise apartment complex, but for a limited time (at least until the end of the year), the wide showroom space has been taken over by Daily Bread. They're offering an array of their infamous baked goods, from croissants, pretzels, donuts and their legendary sourdough.
There wasn't a huge selection to choose from when we went unfortunately (about 1.15pm) with only the pastries along the green glazed brick counter left - definitely may have to go back again at an earlier time. We got a ham & cheese croissant and a peanut butter dulce de leche donut. I was sold as soon as I saw the words dulce de leche but the peanut butter taste turned out to be a bit too much for me - kinda wish I got something sweeter. Only real disappointment was the iced chocolates that we were served - very basic (but then, I guess drinks aren't their specialty) and in such a small glass for $5, it just did not seem worth it.
