Duck Island have long been known for serving some of the best scoops in the country. If you're an ice-cream lover (who isn't though?), this is a highly recommended spot that will have you going back all year long!
Originating from Hamilton, Duck Island finally opened its doors in Auckland with a store in Ponsonby earlier this year. The fit out of their boutique features their brand's signature pastel pallet with dreamy pink hues. Outdoor seating is also available.
Duck Island make their artisanal ice cream using organic milk, cream, and the freshest seasonal produce, making them renowned for crafting premium quality ice cream. They also offer an extensive dairy-free and vegan range made with coconut milk.
They're much more than your average ice cream parlour. Although they do all the classics, always with a twist of course, it's the experimental and innovative flavours that we never knew existed that keeps people coming back for more. From cinnamon smoked apple pie to roasted white chocolate and miso or boysenberry cheesecake, they are famous for coming up with delicious combinations you never would have guessed could be an ice cream flavour!
With all the hype, of course I HAD to go get my first taste of their ice cream and WOW, I was seriously impressed! Their unique flavours legit taste exactly as their names suggests. With 24 flavours on display, and decently priced, it's always a (good) struggle choosing what you want!
But why get one scoop of ice cream when you can get 8? If you're after variety or just simply can't choose, get a flight to share! Honestly the best idea ever I reckon, especially as every flavour here is AMAZING! It's scooper's choice but they usually let you pick if you can tell them fast enough. There's so many unique and tasty flavours on offer and they always rotate, that it's hard to remember the names but toasted marshmallow has got to be one of my faves.
Or if you want your scoops in their waffle cones, I recommend getting a Double - 2-3 flavours for only $8!
With a store bang in the central of Ponsonby, Aucklanders no longer need to make the three hour drive to experience top quality ice cream straight from the source. I can guarantee you'll be coming here on the regular to satisfy your cravings.
