Newbie

From the mastermind behind Woolfy's and Scout Cafe, the newest eatery in Newmarket (excuse the repetition) offers a unique twist to the classic cafe dishes.

The stunning cabinet food on display.

Roger's Hangover Hash pictured on the left.

Having only opened a couple of weeks ago, Newbie is already proving to be a success! I met up with a couple of fellow foodies to try it out. We arrived just before 12pm and the place was already pretty much full. It also looks to be used as a place to hold meetings over coffee for some. I've got to say, the place did not look like what I expected, with all the seating in the foyer area of an office building - felt a bit strange sitting there as people come in and out. Nonetheless, their cabinet is full of goodies and the decor is amazing and vibrant. The wait for our food was about half an hour and a drink was forgotten but I'll put this down to it being lunch hour and them being a newbie.

My Roger's Hangover Hash, named after the owner, had fried potatoes served with thinly sliced chorizo, scattered labneh and capsicum, topped with a fried egg. I would have liked the potato to have been cooked a bit longer as a couple were undercooked.

Their most popular dish, French Kissed Toast - full of colour like their menu and decor.

The popular French Kissed Toast is full of colour with lots of fruit. I really liked the crumbed macadamia brioche - different to your usual French Toast.

New Way Benedict with eggplant

Lastly, the New Way Benedict is definitely something new, allowing you to choose to pair it with either a slab of bacon or eggplant. I recommend the eggplant because where else can you get this unique combo? I also had a sip of their Strawberry & Rose Water smoothie which tasted so nice and refreshing!

Pop in to see this kid on the block for yourself. They also open bright and early at 6.30am on weekdays if you're looking for your morning coffee fix.
