Poké Poké

In case you've been living under a rock, poké has become an increasingly popular choice of food among Aucklanders, with more and more poke stores opening up,

Poké originates from Hawaii and consists of diced raw dish served with seasoning. Similar to a salad, the modern take on poké sees cubed marinated fresh fish (usually salmon and tuna) as well as non-seafood proteins, such as chicken and tofu, mixed with fresh and healthy ingredients and sauces, with topping like seaweed, shallots and sesame.

Poké has become a favourite food of mine ever since I first tried it at Poké Poké. It's also one of my top two places for poké in Auckland (the other being Poké House). Why? They have heaps of variety, their poké is probably the most colourful of them all, it's hella yum and healthy, and their portions are super generous! Unfortunately they don't have loyalty cards like some other poké stores but here's hoping that day will come.  Anyway, if you're keen to indulge in a bowl of goodness, find them at one of their three stores: Newmarket, Takapuna and K Rd (within walking distance from uni!).

At Poke Poke you can either build your own poké by picking your ingredients, sauces and garnish of your liking as you go along the counter, or you can select from the pre-made bowls on their 'purpose-bowl' menu. It's also an easy quick and healthy option for takeaway if you're on the go. Trust me, its always a satisfying and delicious yet guilt-free lunch choice.

Stores located in Newmarket, Takapuna and on Karangahape Rd.
